Topicaine (Lidocaine [Lignocaine] hydrochloride with adrenaline and tetracaine hydrochloride): Hospital supply issue resolved

Affected product

Due to a regulatory issue, there was a supply issue affecting Topicaine (Pharmacode 2288737).

Alternative product

Clinical advice suggested lidocaine Inj 2% with adrenaline 1:200,000, 20 ml vial (pharmacode 693200) would be a suitable alternative. We understand that Topicaine is likely used mostly by dental surgeons. 

Please use the larger presentation where possible to reserve the smaller presentation for those who need it most.

Resupplied March 2025 

Stock has arrived and been released to wholesalers. It may take another 1 to 2 weeks to reach pharmacies around the motu.
