Topicaine (Lidocaine [Lignocaine] hydrochloride with adrenaline and tetracaine hydrochloride): Hospital supply issue resolved

Affected product

Due to capacity limitations at Biomed, many Biomed products are facing supply constraints. Pharmac is working closely with hospitals and Biomed to set manufacturing priorities.

Biomed was out of stock of Topicaine (Pharmacode 2288737).

Alternative product

Clinical advice suggested lidocaine Inj 2% with adrenaline 1:200,000, 20 ml vial (pharmacode 693200) would be a suitable alternative. 

Please use the larger presentation where possible to reserve the smaller presentation for those who need it most.

Expected resupply 

Biomed is making and releasing batches as they become available. We are monitoring this situation.
