Tetracycline 250mg tablet: brand change
The supplier is no longer able to supply Accord (S29) tetracycline 250mg tablets (Pharmacode: 2587106). An alternative was funded from 1 August 2026.

Alternative product
From 1 August Pharmac has funded an alternate product, Tetracycline Cap 250 mg (Tetracycline AA). Like the Accord product, the alternate brand is not a Medsafe approved product and should be prescribed and supplied in line with Section 29 of the Medicines Act.

Note: The funded indication and subsidy restrictions are unchanged. Tetracycline is funded for helicobacter pylori eradication when the prescription is endorsed accordingly. A prescription is considered endorsed if tetracycline is prescribed in conjunction with a proton pump inhibitor, bismuth and metronidazole.
While the affected Accord product is a tablet, the alternative Tetracycline AA product is a capsule.
