When combined tablet is not available
Where the combined formulation not available the single chemical tablets can be used:
- Isoniazid Tab 100 mg (Noumed Isoniazid) Pharmacode 2695901 and
- Rifampicin Cap 150 mg (Rifadin Sanofi) Pharmacode 251186
We understand that this is not ideal and people needing to take additional tablets can cause difficulties. However, this approach means people can continue to access treatment.

Prescribing and supplying an unapproved medicine
Section 29 of the Medicines Act 1981 allows for medicines that are not Medsafe approved to be prescribed and supplied to people.
We know supplying a medicine under section 29 is not ideal. In this case, however, this will allow patients to be able to access an appropriate treatment.
We apologise for any inconvenience this causes.
