Neocate Gold: Funding issue

Due to minor product changes, there is a brief funding issue affecting Neocate Gold.

The new tub has a lot more purple and has a purple lid (where the old neocate gold had a gold lid).

Neocate Gold updated

The supplier of Neocate Gold made some minor changes to its product. This meant the new Neocate Gold has a new look and a new Pharmacode.

New Pharmacode will be funded from 1 June 2026

Unfortunately, due to a late notification about the product change, the Pharmacode for the new look product is not listed in the Pharmaceutical Schedule. This means that Pharmacode is not funded. 

As soon as we learned of the funding problem, Pharmac acted quickly to list the new Pharmacode. It is funded from 1 June 2026. Unfortunately, the system does not allow us to make changes immediately, even if it is just adding a Pharmacode.

Funded Pharmacode for Neocate Gold

We are aware that the product with the new Pharmacode is being supplied by Nutricia now, however, pharmacies will not be able to claim for this until 1 June when this is listed (funded) on the Schedule. 

We understand that some wholesalers still have stock of the currently funded Neocate Gold with the older Pharmacode. Pharmacies should continue to order and claim against this older Pharmacode until 1 June, when the new product is listed on the Schedule.

About the product changes

Nutricia has made a minor formula change. The updated formulation now uses DHASCO-B oil (from the microalgae Schizochytrium sp) instead of DHASCO-T oil (from Crypthecodinium cohnii) as the DHA source. The amount of DHA  in the product remains the same at 75 mg/10 g. Minor adjustments have been made to the values for the fatty acid groups. More detail is available from your pharmacist or Nutricia.
