We've had some queries from pharmacists about the funding for those switching from MiniMed pumps to another funded pump. We can confirm that the "Maximum of 1 insulin pump per patient each four-year period" rule does not apply for people changing from a funded Medtronic pump to the Tandem or YpsoPump.
They can receive a funded pump, even if they got their Medtronic pump less than 4 years ago.
Affected products
Intermed, the supplier of the MiniMed insulin pump and its consumables, advises that the MiniMed Mio infusion sets are being discontinued.

When will I have to change?
Stock of the Mio infusion sets is likely to start running out during 2025.
You may want to talk to your diabetes specialist team about moving to another brand of insulin pump. All MiniMed infusion sets will stop being funded from October 2026.
