Alendronate sodium with colecalciferol (Fosamax Plus): Supply issue resolved

Due to higher than expected sales early in 2025, there has been a supply issue affecting Fosamax Plus (Pharmacode: 2337053).

Stock arrived mid-August and has been distributed to wholesalers. It can take another 1 to 2 weeks to reach pharmacies around New Zealand Aotearoa.

Alternative treatment

People unable to get Fosamax Plus need to talk to the person who prescribed it about suitable options. They also need a new prescription.

Fosamax was not affected by this supply issue.

Resupply arrived mid-August 2025

Oragon, the supplier, has stock of Fosamax Plus again. It can take another 1 to 2 weeks to reach pharmacies.
