Monthly dispensing

To help make the available supply of Tamsulosin-Rex last longer while supply is limited, tamsulosin 400 mcg capsules will be temporarily changed to monthly dispensing from 1 August 2026. 

Why is this happening?

A supply issue affecting tamsulosin 400 microgram capsules is expected from mid-September 2026. To help maintain access for people who need this medicine, tamsulosin cap 400 mcg will temporarily move to monthly dispensing. This will help ensure the remaining stock is available more evenly across the country. We expect the supply issue to resolve by late September 2026.

We know that monthly dispensing can be disruptive, requiring more regular visits to your pharmacy. 

3-monthly dispensing will return

Tamsulosin cap 400 mcg will return to 3-monthly dispensing as soon as we can.
