Rosuvastatin (all strengths): Supply issue

Viatris, the supplier, advises that there have been delays at the factory, which may lead to a limited supply of rosuvastatin tablets.

12 February 2026 | Resupply expected end February 2026

We expect shipments of each strength to arrive by the end of February. It may take another 1 to 2 weeks for stock to reach pharmacies.

There has been a delay at the factory which will delay the next shipment all strengths of rosuvastatin tablets.

Viatris is managing how much of the remaining stock it sends out to ensure an equitable distribution (on allocation).

From 9 January 2026, we listed an alternative 5 mg to ensure people can continue to access this treatment.

This medicine is Medsafe approved.

RxOne users: The new listing will be automatically updated by RxOne on the effective date.

TONIQ users: the new listings will automatically be updated in Toniq medicine databases from the effective date.

ScriptSense users: the listings will be automatically updated by ScriptSense from the effective date.

This listing will appear in the Online Schedule when it is updated for February 2026

Sector Operations Group will be unable to process claims for January 2026 dispensing of the above listing.

Pharmacies can either:

hold these claims until February 2026 OR
reclaim them in February 2026 when they are rejected for payment in the January 2026 claim.

We funded an alternative product from 11 November 2025. It is approved by Medsafe. All stock has been shipped to wholesalers.

5 mg is expected to be available again during February 2026.

10 mg should be resupplied by mid-to-late January 2026

20 mg may be available in January, but Sandoz 20 mg stock will be sold through before the Viatris stock is supplied.

40 mg should be resupplied by mid-to-late January 2026
