Rosuvastatin (all strengths): Supply issue

Viatris, the supplier, advises that there were delays at the factory, which has lead to limited supply of Viatris brand rosuvastatin tablets.

Over the coming months, stock of all strengths of Rosuvastatin Viatris will run out. The supplier has arranged supply of Rosuvastatin Sandoz in its place. The 5 mg and 20 mg strengths are already funded and the 10 mg and 40 mg strengths will be funded from 1 April 2026.

The Viatris 40 mg will be temporarily replaced by the Sandoz brand during April 2026.

Rosuvastatin Sandoz tablets

The Sandoz Rosuvastatin brand is Medsafe registered. It contains the same active ingredient in the same amount and it is designed to work in the body the same way.

This brand is also registered for use in Australia. The image of the tablets is sourced from the NPS website.
