Alternative listing
From 1 July 2026, an alternative will be funded. It is not Medsafe approved, so will need to be prescribed and dispensed in line with section 29A of the Medicines Act.
It should be available to order from the end of July.
Take note
There are important differences between the alternate and the main funded brand. The XGen promethazine hydrochloride inj product:
- comes as a 1ml ampoule. The concentration is the same 25 mg per ml.
- comes in a pack of 25 ampoules. The Hospira product came as a pack of 5 ampoules.
