Oestradiol valerate (Progynova) tab 2 mg: Packaging issue
The packaging for the 1 mg and 2 mg strengths of Progynova brand oestradiol currently look very similar.
Affected product
We are advised that the current 84-packs of Progynova are being supplied to avoid an out-of-stock situation. They were listed on 1 August 2026. The supplier is aware of the issue that the packaging does not significantly differentiate between the two strengths. They are working to address it.
They do note that the tablets themselves remain a different colour, the 1 mg is beige and the 2 mg is light white.

Expected resolution
The supplier has confirmed that more clearly differentiated packaging has been designed and is planned for future production.
The new packaging is expected to start entering the New Zealand market in early 2027.
