Conflict in the Middle East: Impact on the supply chain

Supply issue Active

Health agencies are monitoring activity emerging from the Middle East conflict.

What is being done?

We are working with suppliers, Health NZ, and Medsafe to identify and manage any potential risks early, including securing alternative products if needed.

The Ministry of Health is leading the health sector’s response to the Middle East conflict as part of the All‑of‑Government approach.

The Ministry is working closely with us, Health NZ, and other health agencies to identify any emerging risks early and manage them in a coordinated way.

Managing supply issues

Pharmac regularly manages more than 100 medicine supply issues each month for medicines and medical devices.

Affected products

Our medicine supply notices page is up to date with information about supply issues that may affect people. There is a filter for those issues which are affected by the conflict.

Medicine supply notices

This is a global challenge

It is likely that these supply challenges will not be unique to New Zealand or to health care – they are being felt across the world and across almost every sector. We will work as hard as we can to ensure people can continue to access the medicines they need.
