Gastrografin and Urografin: Voluntary recall
Bayer has voluntarily recalled its Gastrografin and Urografin products.
Affected products
The supplier, Bayer, is voluntarily recalling Gastrografin and Urografin 30% contrast media, following the detection of an impurity. This recall affects all stock globally.
Bayer has placed its supply of both products into quarantine and is working with Medsafe on recall arrangements.

Securing access to alternatives
Because of the recall, stock levels of these products in hospitals and radiology services may be limited.
We do not want any disruption to imaging services, so Pharmac is working with the supplier, hospitals, and clinical experts to identify and secure suitable alternatives.
