Oestradiol (Estradot) 100 mcg patch: Supply issue

Supply issue Active

Stock of the Estradot brand 100 mcg patch (Pharmacode: 2358883) is very low and may run out.

23 July 2026 | Resupply September 2026

The resupply for 100 mcg Estradot patches has moved out to early September 2026. We understand this is unlikely to be welcome news.

If you are unable to access Estradot 100 mcg patches, alternatives are available.

Affected product

Stock of the Estradot brand 100 mcg patch (Pharmacode: 2358883) is likely to run out. The 25, 50, 75 mcg strengths are not currently affected.

All strengths of the Estradiol TDP Mylan brand are available.

We understand that hormone treatment is important for many people, and uncertainty about supply can be difficult and disruptive. While we can’t prevent these supply issues from happening, we are doing everything we can to help people to access the treatment they need.

Alternative products

Talk to your pharmacist about whether Estradiol TDP Mylan 100 mcg is a suitable alternative.

If you want to stay with the Estradot brand, your pharmacist may be able to dispense a combination of Estradot patches to make up your dose. This will likely attract an additional charge. You may need a new prescription.

Other oestradiol products are also fully funded and available, including a gel and tablets. Talk to your prescriber about whether these might be suitable options for you. You will need a new prescription to change to one of these options.

Expected resupply

We expect Estradot 100 mcg to be available again by early September 2026.

There is still a global supply issue affecting Estradot patches

The supply of Estradot could be disrupted again. This global supply issue has been ongoing since 2022.

Pharmac has secured as much Estradot as the supplier can provide. However, there may be times when there is not enough Estradot for everyone who needs it.

The issues we’re experiencing are part of a global shortage of oestradiol patches. Demand for oestradiol patches has increased significantly in New Zealand and internationally. The manufacturer of Estradot has not been able to produce enough to meet this growing demand.

This is not specific to New Zealand. Shortages are being experienced in many other countries, including Australia.
