Dexamfetamine (Noumed) 5 mg tab: Supply issue

Supply issue Active

Due to delays at the manufacturing plant, the supplier has run out of the Noumed 5 mg dexamfetamine tablet (Pharmacode: 2647516).

24 June 2026 | Stock has arrived

Stock of Noumed brand dexamfetamine has arrived with the supplier and is available for wholesalers to order. Wholesalers may need to place new orders because the supplier doesn't hold backorders.

It can still take another 1 or 2 weeks for stock to make its way to pharmacies around the country.

Affected product

The supplier had limited supply of the following product due to delays at the manufacturing plant:

Dexamfetamine sulfate

  • Presentation: Tab 5 mg
  • Brand: Noumed Dexamfetamine
  • Pharmacode: 2647516
  • Subsidy: $29.80
  • Measure / Qty: per 100

Alternative brand

The supplier brought a different brand of dexamfetamine to New Zealand to ensure people can continue to access their medicine.

This has the same active ingredient in the same quantity as the Noumed brand. It will work in the body in the same way.

Inactive ingredients are slightly different

The inactive ingredients in the Aspen brand of dexamfetamine contain gluten, which may cause issues for people who are coeliac or have an intolerance to gluten products.

Pharmacies will need to consider prioritising the Noumed brand for people with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance, because it does not contain gluten. Prescribers may need to consider alternatives for people with coeliac disease.

Funded from 1 April 2026

  • Brand: Dexamfetamine Aspen

  • Subsidy: $29.80

Resupplied late June 2026
