Codeine phosphate (Noumed) 15, 30 and 60 mg: Supply issue
Supply of all strengths of codeine tablets may be constrained until the end of August 2026.

There have been delays at the factory due to a heatwave. This delayed the next shipments of all strengths.
The supplier has run out of the 30 and expects to briefly run out of the 60 mg strength. The 15 mg may become very constrained before resupply.
Affected product
There was an initial issue with the 30 mg strength (Pharmacode: 2643219) because the maker had difficulty sourcing the active ingredient.
A heatwave has caused further delays to production, which has limited the availability of all strengths of codeine in New Zealand.

Where other strengths are not available, pharmacists may want to consider dispensing multiples of the 15 mg tablets.

The supplier, Noumed, expects a shipment of all strengths to arrive by the end of August 2026. It can take another 2 weeks to reach pharmacies around the country.
