Codeine phosphate (Noumed) 30 mg: Supply issue

Affected product

The maker of this product has had some difficulty sourcing the active ingredient. This has delayed production and means that that the New Zealand supplier may run low on 30 mg tablets before they are restocked. 

There is stock available. We have had reports that some pharmacies have experienced restrictions on supply of codeine. The supplier is working with wholesalers to understand why this is happening. While stock may get low, we do not anticipate a complete outage. 

We ask that pharmacies continue ordering in the volumes they normally would.

Expected resupply

The factory has sourced the active ingredient and scheduled more tablets to be made in May. The supplier, Noumed, expects to have stock available again by mid-June 2026.
