NPPA and Special Authority waivers

Submitting applications before the summer closedown period

If your NPPA or waiver application needs a response before 5 January 2026, you must submit it by 5pm Monday 8 December.

We cannot guarantee non-urgent applications (including renewals) received after 8 December will be processed before the office reopens on Monday 5 January 2026.  However, we will try to get you an outcome where possible.

During the closedown period

An Exceptions Advisor will be contactable by phone only on 021 960 566 on Monday 29, Tuesday 30, and Wednesday 31 December 2025. Call this number before submitting an urgent application, the advisor will not be actively checking the inbox

Only applications requiring an urgent response for in-hospital treatments will be processed on these days.

Enquiries

The enquiries email and phone line will not be monitored from 24 December 2025 until 5 January 2026.  

Media

Staff will be on call for urgent media queries from 22 December 2025 until 5 January 2026.

The media inbox media@pharmac.govt.nz will only be checked a few times during the day. Media need to call 021 863 342

The media phone will be on call forward, so do not text because we won't receive them.

Note that our ability to arrange interviews or respond to media queries, particularly ones involving data, will be limited as the Pharmac office is closed.

Supply issues

If you are experiencing supply issues, email contractmanagement-medicines@pharmac.govt.nz 

We will have someone monitoring this email address between 8am and 5pm on 29, 30, and 31 December 2025.

PharmConnect applications

PharmConnect support will not be available from 24 December 2025 until the Pharmac office reopens on Monday 5 January 2026.
