Report faulty CGMs
Pharmac limits the number of CGMs people can access each year. If you have a faulty CGM, you need it replaced by the supplier. If you don't, you will likely run out of funded CGMs.

When does my CGM allocation reset?
Each type of CGM has a specific number of devices funded in a 12-month period. Your allocation resets to zero on the anniversary of when your funding was approved, the Special Authority application.
Your pharmacist can advise you when your allocation resets. This date will be different for everyone.
Clinical need for more CGMs
There can be a clinical reason that someone needs more CGMs than Pharmac funds by default. If you think this may describe you, talk to doctor or diabetes team.
They may be able to apply to Pharmac for an increased allocation of funded CGMs. This would be through Pharmac's "Named Patient Pharmaceutical Assessment" process (NPPA).

CGMs for type 2 diabetes
Currently, CGMs are not funded for people with type 2 diabetes. We have received three applications to consider funding CGMs for more people.

What is funded for who?
Everyone with type 1 diabetes and some other types of diabetes can access these stand-alone CGMs:
- Dexcom One+
- Freestyle Libre 2 Plus
People with funded access to insulin pumps can access:
- Dexcom G6 (until early 2027)
- Dexcom G7
- Freestyle Libre 3 Plus
Funded access to insulin pumps is for people who have been evaluated as likely to benefit from an automated insulin delivery system by a diabetes multidisciplinary team.
Two insulin pumps are funded:
- YpsoPump
- Tandem Pump
