Oral contraceptives: Supply updates
We are experiencing supply issues with a number of oral contraceptives, both
progestogen-only and the combined oral contraceptive.
Page updated: 18 August 2020 (Norimin supply issue updated)
People may need to change to a different oral contraceptive or go back to their prescriber for further support. More detail about the different oral contraceptives with supply issues is detailed below.
Note about Brevinor
Brevinor 28 and Brevinor 1/28 are different medicines. They have different strengths of norethisterone (the progesteron chemical).
- Brevinor 1/28 is a funded brand of oral contraceptive. It is experiencing a supply shortage.
- Brevinor 28 is the temporary funded alternative to Norimin.
- Brevinor 1/21 and Brevinor 21 are discontinued.
