Porirua GP appointed to PTAC
PHARMAC is welcoming the appointment of Porirua-based general practitioner Sean Hanna to the Pharmacology and Therapeutics Advisory Committee (PTAC).
PTAC provides PHARMAC with clinical advice on medicines PHARMAC is considering funding. The committee is made up of senior clinicians and pharmacologists, who are appointed by the Director-General of Health.
PHARMAC MedicalDirector Dr Peter Moodie says Dr Hanna’s appointment adds to the skills and experience already present on the committee.
"Dr Hanna has particular interests in primary care in high health needs communities, and in youth and adolescent health," says Dr Moodie. "These are valuable perspectives to add to the mix already present within PTAC."
Dr Hanna brings a general practice background to the committee, with particular interests in cross-cultural communication within general practice (particularly use of te reo Māori), youth and adolescent primary care, and primary care in communities with high health needs, and barriers to access.
Dr Hanna replaces Akaroa GP Dr Howard Wilson on the committee.
