Generic medicines and generic brand changes
Generic medicines provide a cost-effective approach to medicines funding. To help provide information to health professionals so that they can be confident in any changes of brand of medicines that may occur, PHARMAC, in conjunction with key stakeholders, developed a series of seminars and a journal that provides information on generic medicines and medication brand changes.
For the seminar series, health professionals, Medsafe, CARM and PHARMAC were interviewed about generic medicines and medication brand changes. You can view the seminar
here either in its entirety, or in smaller extracts.
The following journal provides some further, in-depth information on generic medicines and generic brand change. To read it click here (28 pages, 1173 KB).
You can also read PHARMAC's information sheet (2 pages, 221 KB) about generic medicines.
