The Consumer Advisory Committee provides PHARMAC with input from a patient or health consumer perspective.
The Committee can provide input on a broad range of PHARMAC's activities, including policy, campaigns supporting optimal use of medicines, and medicines funding issues. It is not, however, involved in the assessment of pharmaceutical funding applications.
The Pharmacology and Therapeutics Advisory Committee is PHARMAC’s primary clinical advisory committee.
PTAC, which consists of practicing doctors, considers clinical evidence around funding applications and takes into account other issues before making recommendations to PHARMAC.
- The Pharmacology and Therapeutics Advisory Committee is governed by its Terms of Reference [PDF, 739 KB].
- Its minutes are recorded and available on the PTAC minutes.
- PTAC has a number of expert subcommittees which provide clinical evaluations in specialist areas. The members of those subcommittees and the minutes of their meetings are on the PTAC subcommittees.
