Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC)

The Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC) provides PHARMAC with input from a patient or health consumer perspective. It was established in 2002 following the requirements of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000 and provides advice to PHARMAC on a broad range of PHARMAC's activities, including around medicines funding issues. It is not, however, involved in the assessment of pharmaceutical funding applications.

The Committee meets at least twice a year, and is guided by its Terms of Reference (26 pages, 586 KB). Minutes of meetings are available here.

For more information about the Consumer Advisory Committee, read Listening to Consumers - Role of the Consumer Advisory Committee (2 pages, 90 KB)

PHARMAC has appointed five new CAC members. You can read about them here and read the media release. (2 pages, 105 KB)
