Proposal to list Jaychem’s Chlorhexidine in Alcohol in Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule

PHARMAC and Jaychem Industries Ltd have entered into a provisional agreement for chlorhexidine in alcohol. This proposal would result in a 500 ml presentation of Jaychem’s brand of chlorhexidine in alcohol (HealthE) being listed in Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 January 2012 at the following price (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST):

Chlorhexidine gluconate in alcohol

Presentation 2% with alcohol 70%, 500 ml (tinted red)

Brand HealthE

Pack size 12

Price $114.72

This would be a standard Section H listing; Jaychem’s product would not have any form of protection. Feedback sought PHARMAC welcomes feedback on this proposal.
