Price increase for Pfizer Daunorubicin

PHARMAC is pleased to announce the approval of an agreement with Pfizer for daunorubicin. In summary, the effect of the decision is that the Pfizer brand of daunorubicin 2mg/ml, 10 ml will continue to be listed in Section B and Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 October 2010, and the price will increase from 1 November 2010.

Details of the decision Hospira NZ Limited notified in March 2009, that it was no longer able to supply its brand of daunorubicin, and arranged for the supply of Pfizer brand daunorubicin under Section 29 of the Medicines Act 1981. PHARMAC has subsequently entered into an agreement with Pfizer for Pfizer daunorubicin which will continue to be supplied under Section 29 and listed in Section B and Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at the following price and subsidies:
