2010/11 Tender timeline

In August 2009, PHARMAC proposed to bring forward the tender timeline for the 2009/10 Tender by approximately one month, and also to move the timeline for the 2010/11 Tender forward by a further month. The 2009/10 Tender was released in early December 2009 and tender submissions subsequently closed in early February 2010. We appreciate all of the feedback that we received and recognise that preparation for the annual Multi-product tender involves a significant amount of work over a period of time for suppliers. We would therefore like to communicate the intended timelines at this stage. The key dates and timeframes for the 2010/11 Tender are summarised in the table below:

Date Late July 2010 Late August 2010 Mid September 2010 Event Consultation with suppliers, medical groups and interested parties on the proposed pharmaceutical list and draft Invitation to Tender. Final date for receipt of Alternative Commercial Proposals to tendering by PHARMAC. Final date for all consultation to be received. PHARMAC considers feedback from consultation, negotiates with suppliers over any ACP proposals it considers would meet PHARMAC’s Decision Criteria and enters into provisional contracts with suppliers where appropriate. Meeting of the Tender Medical Evaluation Subcommittee of PTAC to consider clinical issues in relation to the proposed Tender list. Consultation and Board decisions on Alternative Commercial Proposals. Issuing of the 2010/11 Invitation to Tender. Invitation to Tender closes.

We note that moving the tender timelines forward by a further month for the 2010/11 Tender would result in shifting the tender process away from the Christmas/New Year holiday period.
