Approval of agreement with Pfizer New Zealand Ltd for clindamycin (Dalacin C), sulphasalazine (Salazopyrin), cabergoline (Dostinex) and medroxyprogesterone (Provera and Depo-Provera)

PHARMAC is pleased to announce the approval of an agreement with Pfizer New Zealand Limited for the supply of clindamycin (Dalacin C), sulphasalazine (Salazopyrin), cabergoline (Dostinex) and medroxyprogesterone (Provera and Depo-Provera). This was the subject of a consultation letter dated 29 October 2009. In summary, the agreement involves subsidy and price changes for all of the above pharmaceuticals in return for protection from subsidy and/or delisting protection and/or Hospital Supply Status over various periods. Further details of the decision can be found below. Details of the decision Clindamycin Injection • The price and subsidy (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST) for clindamycin injection (Dalacin C) will be reduced in Section B and in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 January 2010 as follows:

Cabergoline • The prices and subsidies (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST) for cabergoline tablets (Dostinex) will be reduced in Section B of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 January 2010 as follows:

The prices and subsidies (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST) for medroxyprogesterone acetate (Provera) will be amended in Section B and in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 January 2010 as follows:
