Proposal to change the format of Section H
PHARMAC is seeking feedback on a proposal to change the format of Section H for Hospital Pharmaceuticals of the Pharmaceutical Schedule. In summary, this proposal would result in: 1. no longer listing specific DV Pharmaceuticals in Part II; 2. the Hospital Supply Status Products table in Part II being deleted; 3. the section Part II – Pharmaceuticals Under National Contracts being formatted the same as Sections B, C and D of the Community Pharmaceutical Schedule (see attached example); and 4. the section Part III – Assessed Pharmaceuticals being deleted. These changes are being considered as part of a project to publish Section H as an XML file that can be imported into DHB systems. The same XML file would be used in typesetting the printed version. Feedback sought PHARMAC welcomes feedback on this proposal. To provide feedback, please submit it in writing by Friday, 30 October 2009 to: Rachel Mackay Manager, Schedule and Contracts PHARMAC PO Box 10 254 Wellington 6143 Email: Rachel.mackay@pharmac.govt.nz Fax: 04 460 4995
Details of the proposal
Removal of DV Pharmaceuticals Unfortunately there is no robust process for including these items as we simply do not know everything that is available, and it changes over time. This can be misleading, as the list may not be comprehensive. The General Rules would be amended as follows:
“DV Pharmaceutical” means a discretionary variance Pharmaceutical, that does not have HSS and which: (a) is either listed in Section H Part II of the Schedule as being a DV Pharmaceutical in association with the relevant Hospital Pharmaceutical with HSS; or (b) is the same chemical entity, at the same strength, and in the same or a similar presentation or form, as the relevant Hospital Pharmaceutical with HSS, but which is not yet listed as being a DV Pharmaceutical.
Deletion of Part II - HSS Products table The material in this section (including expiry dates) will be presented in Part II – Pharmaceuticals Under National Contracts, which has the same alphabetic organisation. Reformatting Part II – Pharmaceuticals Under National Contracts This will make the format of this section consistent with Sections B, C and D of the Community Pharmaceutical Schedule and may facilitate the two publications being combined in future. An draft example page has been attached. Deletion of Part III – Assessed Pharmaceuticals This material is available from other sources including the PHARMAC website. A313068 Page 1 of 1
