Notification of letrozole Tender decision

PHARMAC is pleased to announce its decision to award the Tender for letrozole 2.5 mg tablet to Douglas Pharmaceuticals Ltd, as a result of the Invitation to Tender dated 23 December 2008. Details of this decision · The Letara brand of letrozole 2.5 mg tablet will be listed from 1 February 2010 in Section B and in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule, at the following price and subsidy (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST):

Letara will be fully funded without restriction; Letara will have Sole Supply Status from 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2012 and Hospital Supply Status from 1 April 2010 to 30 June 2012, with a 1% discretionary variance limit; and the subsidy for the incumbent brand of letrozole (Femara, supplied by Novartis) will be reduced to the level of Letara through the application of reference pricing from 1 April 2010, and Femara will be delisted from the Pharmaceutical Schedule on 1 July 2010.
