Proposal for Dr Reddy’s Risperidone

PHARMAC is seeking feedback on a proposal to fund a new brand of risperidone tablets (Dr Reddy’s Risperidone) through a provisional agreement with Dr Reddy’s New Zealand Ltd. Key aspects of the proposal Under this proposal, Dr Reddy’s Risperidone would be listed in Section B and in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 December 2009 at the following prices and subsidies (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST): Form and Strength

No subsidy or delisting protection would apply to Dr Reddy’s Risperidone and the listing of the 0.5 mg strength would be subject to Medsafe approval. Effects of the proposal on other subsidised brands of risperidone This proposal to list Dr Reddy’s Risperidone would not affect the subsidy for any other brand of risperidone that is listed in the Pharmaceutical Schedule at 1 December 2009 – they would remain fully funded for at least the duration of the relevant subsidy protection applying to each brand. Subsidy protection end dates for the various brands of risperidone for which funding has been approved are as follows: Risperdal tablets and oral liquid (Janssen-Cilag) Ridal tablets (Douglas Pharmaceuticals) Risperon oral liquid (Mylan NZ) Apo-Risperidone tablets and oral liquid (Apotex NZ) 1 July 2012 1 February 2010 1 July 2012 1 July 2012
