Proposal to list Pfizer’s brands of heparinised saline and heparin sodium

PHARMAC is seeking feedback on a proposal to list Pfizer New Zealand Limited’s brands of heparinised saline and heparin sodium from 1 October 2009. The proposal would result in Pfizer’s brands of heparinised saline (10 IU per ml, 5ml) and heparin sodium (1,000 IU per ml, 5ml and 5,000 IU per ml, 5ml) being listed in Sections B and H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule with subsidy and delisting protection until 30 June 2013. Feedback sought PHARMAC welcomes feedback on this proposal. All feedback received before the closing date will be considered by PHARMAC’s Board (or Chief Executive acting under delegated authority) prior to making a decision on this proposal. Details of the proposal Pfizer’s brands of heparinised saline and heparin sodium would be listed in Sections B and H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 October 2009, subject to regulatory approval being obtained, at the following prices and subsidies (ex-manufacturer and exclusive of GST):

Pfizer’s brands of heparinised saline and heparin sodium would have subsidy and delisting protection until 30 June 2013. Background AstraZeneca has discontinued supply of heparinised saline and acceptance of this proposal would ensure continuity of supply.
