Proposal for Apotex risperidone and topiramate

PHARMAC is seeking feedback on a proposal to fund a new brand of risperidone tablets and oral liquid (Apo-Risperidone) and topiramate tablets (Apo-Topiramate), through a provisional agreement with Apotex NZ Limited. Key aspects of the proposal are detailed below. From 1 December 2009, Apo-Risperidone and Apo-Topiramate would be listed in Section B and in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at the following prices and subsidies (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST). Subject to Medsafe registration, Apo-Risperidone oral liquid 1 mg per ml in a 30 ml pack size would also be listed at a price and subsidy of $18.35 (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST), potentially instead of the 100 ml pack size, depending on the timing of registration. Apo-Risperidone and Apo-Topiramate would have protection from delisting and subsidy reduction until 1 July 2012. PHARMAC welcomes feedback on this proposal.
