Proposal to fund zuclopenthixol (Clopixol) tablets

PHARMAC is seeking feedback on a proposal to fund a tablet form of the antipsychotic zuclopenthixol (Clopixol), through a provisional agreement with Lundbeck Australia Pty Ltd. A depot injection form of Clopixol is already funded. Key aspects of the proposal are as follows: · From 1 September 2009 zuclopenthixol hydrochloride 10 mg tablets would be listed in Section B and in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at a price and subsidy of $31.45 per 100 tablets (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST). A rebate arrangement would apply to Clopixol tablets.
