Proposal for Mylan risperidone, lithium carbonate and quetiapine

PHARMAC is seeking feedback on a proposal to fund a new brand of risperidone oral liquid (Risperon), and to amend the terms of listing of the Lithicarb brand of lithium carbonate and the Quetapel brand of quetiapine, through a provisional agreement with Mylan New Zealand Ltd. All feedback received before the closing date will be considered by PHARMAC’s Board (or Chief Executive acting under delegated authority) prior to making a decision on this proposal. Details of the proposal From 1 October 2009, Risperon (risperidone) oral liquid 1 mg per ml would be listed in Section B and in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at a price and subsidy of $18.35 per 30 ml (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST). Risperon would have protection from delisting and subsidy reduction until 1 July 2012. From 1 August 2009, the price and subsidy for Lithicarb (lithium carbonate) tablets would increase in Section B of the Pharmaceutical Schedule as outlined in the following table (prices and subsidies expressed ex-manufacturer, excluding GST).
