Proposal for Mylan risperidone, lithium carbonate and quetiapine

PHARMAC is seeking feedback on a proposal to fund a new brand of risperidone oral liquid (Risperon), and to amend the terms of listing of the Lithicarb brand of lithium carbonate and the Quetapel brand of quetiapine, through a provisional agreement with Mylan New Zealand Ltd. Details of this proposal can be found below and on the following page. PHARMAC welcomes feedback on this proposal. All feedback received before the closing date will be considered by PHARMAC’s Board (or Chief Executive acting under delegated authority) prior to making a decision on this proposal. Details of the proposal From 1 October 2009, Risperon (risperidone) oral liquid 1 mg per ml would be listed in Section B and in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at a price and subsidy of $18.35 per 30 ml (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST). Risperon would have protection from delisting and subsidy reduction until 1 July 2012. From 1 August 2009, the price and subsidy for Lithicarb (lithium carbonate) tablets would increase in Section B of the Pharmaceutical Schedule as outlined in the following table (prices and subsidies expressed ex-manufacturer, excluding GST).
