Listing of a new brand of Metoprolol Succinate (MetoprololAFT CR) in the Pharmaceutical Schedule

PHARMAC is pleased to announce the listing of a new brand of metoprolol succinate sustained release tablet (Metoprolol-AFT CR) on the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 June 2009. Details of the Decision Metoprolol-AFT CR will be listed in Section B and Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at the following prices and subsidies from 1 June 2009 (exmanufacturer, excluding GST):

Metoprolol-AFT CR will be fully funded for all patients (the current metoprolol succinate endorsement criteria will not apply to Metoprolol-AFT CR). Feedback Received regarding the Proposal The listing of Metoprolol-AFT CR was the subject of a consultation letter dated 21 June 2007. We appreciated the feedback that was received as a result of this consultation and acknowledge the time that people took to respond. The consultation document noted that, at the time of the consultation, Metoprolol-AFT CR was not registered and that the listing was subject to the necessary consents being obtained. We can confirm that the necessary consents have been obtained and that Metoprolol-AFT CR is approved for use in New Zealand.
