Simvastatin patient information

At the moment, you take Lipex tablets to help you lower your cholesterol. Lipex is the brand name and the medicine inside is called simvastatin.

The medicine simvastatin is also made by other pharmaceutical companies. Different companies use different brand names for simvastatin. PHARMAC is the government organisation that funds medicines for New Zealand, making them cheaper for you. PHARMAC will soon no longer be funding the Lipex brand of simvastatin and are going to fund a different brand called Arrow-Simva. The Arrow-Simva tablets will look a bit different from the Lipex tablets, but they will still have the same simvastatin medicine and will work just the same. It is important to keep taking Arrow-Simva in the same way that you have been taking Lipex. You shouldn’t notice any difference in how you feel after taking Arrow-Simva compared with Lipex. If you do notice any major changes or side effects, please talk with your doctor about it. Arrow-Simva will cost the same as Lipex costs you now. Important dates
