Proposal to list Duolin HFA (salbutamol with ipratropium) aerosol inhaler

Summary PHARMAC and Rex Medical Limited have signed a provisional agreement for the supply of a new brand of salbutamol with ipratropium aerosol inhaler, Duolin HFA. The agreement would result in this product being subsidised only if it attains registration by Medsafe. This proposal would not affect the listing of the current brand of this product, Combivent. Proposal If Duolin HFA attains registration by Medsafe, it would be listed in Section B of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at the following price and subsidy:

Chemical and strength Salbutamol 100 µg with 20 µg ipratropium Presentation Aerosol inhaler, CFC-free Pack size 200 doses OP Proposed price and subsidy $12.19

Duolin HFA would be protected from delisting until 1 July 2013, and from subsidy reduction until 1 July 2012. Feedback sought PHARMAC welcomes feedback on this proposal.
