Proposal regarding quinapril (Accupril) and quinapril with hydrochlorothiazide (Accuretic)

Summary As a result of a Request for Proposals for the sole supply of quinapril and quinapril with hydrochlorothiazide (dated 18 June 2008), PHARMAC and Pfizer New Zealand Limited have entered into a provisional agreement for the supply of Accupril (quinapril) and Accuretic (quinapril with hydrochlorothiazide). The provisional agreement (subject to consultation and PHARMAC Board approval) would result in: · · price and subsidy reductions for Accupril; and, Accupril and Accuretic being the only brands of quinapril and quinapril with hydrochlorothiazide listed in the Pharmaceutical Schedule until 30 June 2011.

Details of the Proposal Accupril and Accuretic would remain listed in Section B and in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at the following reduced prices and subsidies (ex-manufacturer, exclusive of GST) with effect from 1 November 2008:

Accupril and Accuretic would have sole supply status and remain fully funded in Section B of the Pharmaceutical Schedule until 30 June 2011..
