Special foods supplied by Nestle: proposed changes to some funded products

PHARMAC is seeking feedback on a provisional agreement with Nestle Healthcare Nutrition to replace the currently listed Isosource and Fibresource brands of enteral feed (with and without fibre) with the Isosource HN and Fibersource HN brands, in the Adult Products Standard in Section D of the Pharmaceutical Schedule. Included in the provisional agreement are a number of other Special Foods products supplied by Nestle which would continue to be listed at current prices and subsidies.

Proposal summary Isosource HN and Fibresource HN would be listed under the current Special Authority applying to Adult Products Standard from 1 October 2008. These products would replace Isosource Standard, Isosource Standard RTH, Fibresource and Fibresource RTH, which will be delisted from the Pharmaceutical Schedule in the future (although these other products would not be delisted before 1 April 2009). A number of other Special Foods products supplied by Nestle would continue to be listed at the current prices and subsidies. The provisional agreement contains pricing protection until at least 30 September 2013.

Feedback sought We welcome your feedback on this proposal. To provide feedback on this proposal please submit it in writing by 5pm, Monday, 8 September 2008 to: Maria Storey Therapeutic Group Manager PHARMAC PO Box 10-254 Wellington 6143 Email: maria.storey@pharmac.govt.nz Fax: (04) 460 4995

All feedback received before the closing day will be considered by PHARMAC’s Board (or Chief Executive, acting under delegated authority) when making a decision on this proposal. If the proposal is approved, it is anticipated that the proposed changes would take effect from 1 October 2008.
