Consultation on a proposal regarding doxepin hydrochloride and salbutamol

PHARMAC and Pacific Pharmaceuticals have entered into a provisional agreement regarding doxepin hydrochloride (Anten) and salbutamol (Respigen), and PHARMAC is seeking feedback on this proposal. Outline of proposal Under this proposal, there would be: § § § a price and subsidy increase for doxepin hydrochloride (Anten), with the effect that all available presentations would be fully subsidised; a listing of Respigen as an alternative salbutamol aerosol inhaler; and reference pricing of the Salamol and Ventolin brands of salbutamol aerosol inhaler to Respigen.

Please note that manufacture of the 75 mg capsule of doxepin hydrochloride has been discontinued and will likely be unavailable from 1 July 2008 (delisted from the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 January 2009). Respigen (salbutamol) would be listed in Section B of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 June 2008 at the following price and subsidy (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST):
