Consultation on provisional agreement with AstraZeneca to amend terms of listing of various pharmaceuticals in the Pharmaceutical Schedule
PHARMAC and AstraZeneca Limited have entered into a provisional agreement to amend the terms of listing of quetiapine (Seroquel), sodium chloride for injection (AstraZeneca) and propofol (Diprivan) in the Pharmaceutical Schedule. Key aspects of this proposal are as follows: · The price and subsidy of quetiapine (Seroquel) tablets would be reduced in Section B and in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule with effect from 1 October 2007 as follows (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST):

Seroquel would be listed in Section B of the Pharmaceutical Schedule without the requirement for endorsement for subsidy from 1 October 2007. Seroquel tablets dispensed in the community and in DHB hospitals would be subject to a confidential rebate from 1 October 2008. Seroquel would have protection from delisting and subsidy reduction until 30 September 2010. The price of sodium chloride inj 0.9% 50x 10 mL and 50x 5 mL (AstraZeneca) listed in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule would be reduced with effect from 1 January 2008 as follows (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST):

Sodium chloride inj 0.9% 50x 10 mL and 50x 5 mL (AstraZeneca) purchased by DHB hospitals would be subject to a rebate for the period 1 January 2008 to the expiry of Hospital Supply Status (HSS) on 30 June 2009. Propofol with EDTA (Diprivan) would be listed in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at the following prices (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST) from 1 January 2008 to the expiry of Hospital Supply Status (HSS) on 30 June 2009:

Following expiry of HSS status, propofol with EDTA (Diprivan) would be listed in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule at the new prices specified in the above table from 1 July 2009 until at least 30 June 2010 (ex-manufacturer, excluding GST).
