19 April 2007 To all interested parties Request for Information for proposal to list lancing devices on the Pharmaceutical Schedule PHARMAC is currently investigating the feasibility of listing lancing devices on the Pharmaceutical Schedule for the purposes of blood glucose testing. If lancing devices were listed on the Pharmaceutical Schedule, it would mean that prescriptions for lancing devices would be publicly funded for eligible patients if dispensed pursuant to a prescription in compliance with listed restrictions (if any). PHARMAC seeks information from all stakeholders (including patient and health professional groups, individual patients and health professionals, and suppliers) regarding the following: · The need for funded lancing devices; · Proposed restrictions to apply to dispensing of funded lancing devices (if any); · Estimated number of patients who would benefit from funded access to lancing devices (and nature of the benefit); · Volume of lancing devices used currently; · Preference for particular brands/suppliers of lancing devices and reasons for the preferences; · Any additional information considered relevant to a proposal to list lancing devices on the Pharmaceutical Schedule. PHARMAC is also seeking Expressions of Interest from suppliers of lancing devices. Suppliers should refer to www.pharmac.govt.nz for further information. Please forward all responses to Tommy Wilkinson at PHARMAC at PO Box 10-254, Wellington 6143, or email to tommy.wilkinson@pharmac.govt.nz before 4pm on Friday 11 May 2007. We look forward to receiving your responses. Yours sincerely
