Media release Matthew Brougham Acting CE at PHARMAC Matthew Brougham, one of PHARMAC’s longest-serving senior managers, is the Government drug funder’s Acting Chief Executive. The manager of PHARMAC’s analysis and assessment team, Matthew Brougham has worked with the agency for nearly a decade in both the commercial and analytical sides of PHARMAC’s business. In his management role, Matthew Brougham has overall responsibility for PHARMAC’s economic analyses, forecasting pharmaceutical expenditure, and information technology. Matthew Brougham will be Acting Chief Executive while Wayne McNee is on secondment to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet for 18 months. PHARMAC Board Chairman Richard Waddel says Wayne McNee’s secondment is a commitment by PHARMAC and DPMC to Wayne McNee's professional development. “Wayne has provided outstanding leadership at PHARMAC, and we wish him well for his secondment. While he is away, I have no doubt that PHARMAC will continue its record of excellence under Matthew Brougham,” Richard Waddel says. “Matthew Brougham joined PHARMAC in 1997, initially as a Therapeutic Group Manager before working as PHARMAC's Senior Analyst, specialising in cost utility analysis. He has an academic background in both economics and science, studying through the University of Tromso (Norway), and Lincoln and Canterbury Universities. Prior to joining PHARMAC, he worked in various sectors including fisheries (fisheries science), transport (policy analysis), social welfare (forecasting and cost modelling), and the Treasury (tax analysis).
