Hospital Pharmaceuticals Contracts Manager

PHARMAC is a Crown Entity, recognised for its effective management of prescription medicine subsidies and more recently for the management of hospital pharmaceutical strategy. Our objective is to secure for eligible people in need of pharmaceuticals, the best health outcomes that are reasonably achievable from pharmaceutical treatment within the amount of funding provided to us by government. The Hospital Pharmaceuticals Contracts Manager (HPCM) position is a challenging and rewarding role. Reporting to the Manager, Hospital Pharmaceuticals the HPCM is involved with scoping, negotiating, contracting and implementing purchasing arrangements for pharmaceuticals and other products on behalf of DHB (District Health Board) hospitals. The role also involves ongoing monitoring of contractual provisions, working with DHB’s, pharmaceutical suppliers and advisory groups. For this role you should ideally: • Have a healthcare, economics or analytical tertiary qualification and have an interest in working in the health sector. • Have excellent research, negotiation and communication skills. • Have strong organisational skills and be able to prioritise and multi-task. • Have sound numerical ability. • Thrive on working in a dynamic environment. • Be able to work as part of a highly motivated team, as well as independently.
