PHARMAC is currently consulting on a proposal that would result in a return to one dispensing (i.e. up to 90 days supply at one time) for about 70% of prescriptions subsidised by the Government. This proposal was further detailed in our previous letter of 31 March 2003.

DHBs reassure patients over medicine access. District Health Boards are reassuring New Zealanders that they would continue to have access to medicines, if a proposal to return to three- month dispensing for many medicines goes ahead. Government drug buying agency PHARMAC is currently calling for submissions on a proposal that would enable more people to pick up their three- months worth of medicine at once.
